All of us have different reasons for why we come to the JCC Fitness Center, and what we do inside its 5,000 square feet of
fitness brilliance. No matter what kind of fitness activity you choose, our enthusiastic staff will be there to assist you with our equipment, offer suggestions for your workout and provide helpful fitness tips. Our signature fitness & personal training programs, cutting-edge equipment and innovative classes distinguish us as so much more than just your ordinary health club. We continue to expand our program offerings and are excited to introduce new, innovative elements to our membership. Our goal is that every member is treated like an individual and feels supported and motivated to get fit and most importantly have fun in the process. All our equipment is virtually brand new including our Cardio Theater TV system that is mounted right to your treadmill. We provide an array of services and offer an extensive selection of cardiovascular fitness equipment such as elliptical trainers, recumbent bikes, step machines and treadmills. Our personnel are trained to educate members about the equipment and assist with there workouts. Our Personal trainers hold nationally recognized certifications and are CPR/AED certified. Take a little time for yourself; we are all about family, fitness and fun.

POLICIES

Age Limit - Children under the age of 16 are not permitted in the Fitness Center. Youth 13 - 15 years are able to use the Fitness Center only after undergoing a JCC Teen Tune-Up Certification Course and they check in with the fitness staff verifying their eligibility each time they work out. Note: There is a $30 charge for the Teen Tune-Up Certification Course, and both sessions must be completed before the individual is allowed to utilize the Fitness Center and its programs.
- Towel Service
Towel service is available for the term of your membership at no additional cost. With this service, a t the Sports & Wellness reception desk, you must register for towel exchange cards in order to access towels.
- Locker Rooms
Our locker rooms are designed to fit all your needs. Whether changing before and after a workout or massage, or just unwinding in the sauna or steam room, you can have access to a locker for the day or annually. Lockers are available for daily use at no charge. Locks are not provided and if left on lockers overnight are subject to being cut off. Age recommendation- children of opposite sex no older than age 4.
- Locker Rentals
Instead of carrying your workout clothes back and forth to the gym, the Bernikow JCC Fitness Center offers annual locker rentals, giving you one less thing to worry about. Rental lockers are available on a first come first served basis, and are only available to Platinum members.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES
The Sports and Rec department has been celebrating many children's birthday parties this last year because we have that magic touch….literally. Party packages can include magicians, animal encounters, swimming, sports, music, dance and much more!! All parties are age appropriate and specifically designed with your child in mind. We specialize in customized celebrations and we will do our best to make your party as memorable as possible…full of action and interaction. All basic party packages include pizza, cake and beverages and an hour in our Olympic size pool or state of the art outdoor pool at HKC with the base package rate of $550 up to 20 children. All parties are offered on Sunday afternoon and there are two party hosts with each party who lead the children into tons of fun!! LOL while you get
FIT. Have a great time with your friends, update
your status on Facebook
while updating your six pack, and upload pics while
you unload fat. Fun, hip, now type of class that is
different from any other "boring" fitness class.
TEXTercise is a workout designed for teens that
allows them to get a great total body workout in,
all while using no weights, simply their cellphone
in hand. The workout is designed in a way that
allows the people to actually text (each other, the
instructor, their Facebook friends, etc) while doing
various exercises.
- Flash Mob Fitness
A flash mob (or
flashmob) is a group of people who assemble suddenly
in a public place, perform an unusual and sometimes
seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then
disperse,
often for the purposes of entertainment, satire,
artistic expression Flash mobs are organized
via telecommunications, social media, or viral
e-mails.
We will be hosting Flash Mob Fitness here at the JCC
every Sunday at 11am.
Classes will include a variety of exercise to appeal
to most fitness levels and incorporate
strength and conditioning with a great experience.
Classes are led by Frank Mensah a well
known instructor on Staten Island. We will be
conducting Flash Mob Fitness throughout the
Bernikow building on Sundays with the location
announced each week via Social Media.
Don’t miss combining fitness and excitement in this
social environment.
Classes are FREE to JCC members.

surgeon & survivor Dr. Carolyn M. Kaelin and Master
Trainers Josie Gardiner and Joy Prouty, it is the
only breast cancer recovery program approved by the
American Council Group classes are tailored for
different surgeries and adapted for all fitness
levels. A
one-on-one interview with a trainer is required
before class begins.

POLICIES
- Locker Rentals
Our Fitness Center has male and female locker rooms equipped with showers. Lockers are for daily use only.
• You can rent a locker for only$30 annually.
• We also have mini lockers for wallets, cash and valuables for 25 cents.
- Enrollment Policy
• Everyone wishing to join the Fitness Center will be asked to complete a Liability Waiver. If you have a medical restriction, you will be asked to provide a medical clearance note from your physician.
• You are entitled to 2 complimentary 30 minute orientations upon joining the Fitness Center. Please note our orientations are by appointment only.
- Teen Membership
The Teen rate/discount is for ages 12-20.
• Teens are required to go through the orientation process to ensure a safe environment for themselves as well as others around them. Once they do this, they are permitted to use the Fitness Center without parental supervision.
• Teens can only use the Fitness Center during non-school hours.
- Guest Pass Policy
Daily Guest passes are $15
• If you join our Fitness Center within 30 days of the expiration of your guest pass, you may apply the guest fee towards your membership dues.
• Guest Passes are issued at the Reception desk in the lobby. We will photocopy your Driver's License or Photo ID card for security purposes before issuing the Guest Pass.

New Member Orientations
Our two complimentary 30 minute orientations are required
for each new member and should be scheduled by a personal
trainer upon joining. This orientation is a basic
demonstration of the safe and effective operation of the
cardio and strength training equipment. Some of these
orientations grow into a comprehensive fitness assessment
session (Personal training) and relationships between the
member and trainers are well established as they reach their
obtainable goals.
