We hope to enhance your knowledge and interest as well as your enjoyment of everything Jewish. The programs listed here are only the beginning of very exciting Jewish learning and cultural experiences - both formal and informal. Try our new programs and give us your feedback and ideas!!!


Formal Jewish Education

Ulpan – Learn “Conversational”
Hebrew with an experienced, talented
and creative instructor. Beginners
and intermediate levels are offered.
Each group meets once a week.

Reading the Siddur – Learn to read
the Siddur and feel comfortable in the
synagogue. Preparation by an experienced,

texts from The Book of Genesis
will be studied in English which will be
the basis for in depth discussions on

The popular Yiddish Club is going to be revitalized and moved to the Bernikow Building! Watch for details.


Women’s Programs


Ezrat Nashim –
We are pleased to announce this program designed to address topics of interest for women. We hope to hold three events this year which will be a combination of a speaker on a topic of interest to women as well as an activity or event (fashion show, Israeli dance, spa day, art show, etc). October 16 – Premier event – local Jewish artists will display their work with a panel discussion about the Jewish component of their art.


Rosh Chodesh – An inspirational guest speaker will address women once a month, on Rosh Chodesh. We will try to do it on Rosh Chodesh or as close to that day as possible. Dr. Louis and Stacy Emmer are the generous sponsors of this series.

This year’s Panorama of Jewish Life will have 3 series.

Series # 1 “Edot” – World Jewry Today – 3rd Annual Jewish Culture Series –This year co-sponsored by JCC and Wagner College Chai Society.

Tuesday, April 1, 2008 – 8:00pm – Bernikow JCC– Rabbi Abraham Unger, Ph.D. – “The State of American Jewry” – Dr. Unger is Assistant Professor and Director of Urban Programs in the Department of Government and Politics at Wagner College.

Tuesday, April 28, 2008 – 7:00pm – Wagner College – Chai Society Jewish Communal Awards.
