With 3 locations that open the door to wonderful recreational, social, educational and cultural activities for you and your family. Our staff consists of dedicated volunteers and staff that assist in enhancing your experiences here, from taking an exercise class to enjoying a cultural event, from celebrating a holiday to stretching your mind. This is your community center and membership is open to people of all races, religions, ethnic backgrounds and financial circumstances. The Membership Services Department is designed to take care of any need that you may have. We strive to provide the best customer service and satisfaction possible throughout all of our departments and programs. Please feel free to utilize our comment boxes and know that our door is always open to discuss your suggestions, compliments and complaints. JCC Alumni Association
The JCC of Staten Island is proud to announce the formation of our new Alumni Association. If you are a current or a past member, camper, counselor, or staff person we want to hear from you! The JCC's Alumni Association is hoping to reconnect with you as you re-establish old friendships through different exciting events that we plan to host throughout the year.   • Who should I call if I have any questions about membership?

You can call Jill K. Gottlieb at 718-475-5223 x5 or Melanie Kirschner at 718-475-5223 x1. The front desk is also able to answer basic questions at x3.

  • What are the building hours?

Monday-Thursday: 5:30am-11:00pm; Friday: 5:30am-7:00pm; Saturday & Sunday 7:00am-7:00pm. The JCC will either have abbreviated hours or be closed for certain Jewish holidays. For Fitness Center Hours CLICK HERE and for Pool Hours CLICK HERE.

  • Can I pay for membership on a monthly basis?

Yes – however, the membership is based on a full year so you are required to make 12 monthly payments (with the exception of the Snowbird Membership.)  You can also pay for the year in full with a 5% discount.

  • Can I pay for the Fitness Center or Pool only?

No – a membership includes use of the entire building which we hope will add value to your experience.

  • Can I bring a Guest(s)?

Yes – we ask that you bring no more than 2 guests or1 family per visit. We also ask that you don’t bring the same local guest more than 3 times per year. The fees are $15 for adult (age 11+), $10 per child (ages 3-10) and children under 2 are free. Guest pass cards with a value of $60 are also available for purchase at $50. Special arrangements can be made if you have out of town guests staying for a longer period of time. There may be some guest restrictions during special events and/or weekends in the summer.

  • What should I do if I lose my ID/Access card?

Stop by the Front Desk.  They will first check to see if your card was turned in. If not, they will verify your membership and then re-issue a card for a replacement fee of $15.00.  You must carry and have your card with you at ALL times to allow you into membership spaces and to receive towels.

  • Once I become a member can I upgrade my membership?

Yes - at any time you can upgrade your membership to another category. You would pay the difference of the initiation fees as well as in the dues.  You may not however upgrade to a family membership for just the summer and downgrade in the fall.   • What if I want to downgrade my membership?

You can downgrade your membership at any time. There is a $25 administrative fee and your dues will be adjusted accordingly. Contact the Membership Services Department for details.  

  • Can I put my membership on hold?

Yes – for personal or medical reasons. Contact the Membership Services office for details.

  • What happens if I want to cancel my membership prior to the one year agreement?

There are three ways in which to cancel your membership prior to the one year agreement with proof, 30 days notice and a category based fee of $25-$45: 1) If you relocate geographically, 2) have a medical issue or 3) have a financial issue.   Contact the Membership Services office for details.

  • What can my children do/use?

From ages 6-11, they will need to be supervised at all times.  They can use the pools and gymnasiums, as well as take Kids Fitness Classes.  See the Group Exercise Schedule.

Ages 12 and older can be in the Center unsupervised as long as they are well behaved. Ages 13-15 can take the Teen Tune-Up for a $30 fee in order to use the Fitness Center. 16 older can come and go as adults do.

  • What about my younger child(ren)? Is there babysitting available?

Yes – free of charge for children 3 months to 6 years; Sunday - Friday: 8:30am-12:30pm & Monday - Thursday: 4:30pm-7:30pm. A reservation is preferred and there is an hour and a half time limit. You must also remain in the building during this time. Call 718-475-5210 for further details.

  • If my child(ren) are on the membership can they go to the pool?

Yes – but if they are under the age of 12, they must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

the whirlpool?

For health and safety reasons, no child under the age of 13 is permitted to use the whirlpool under any circumstance.

  • What about the Fitness Center?

Children 12 & under are not permitted in the Fitness Center at all.  Youth 13 -15 years are able to use the Fitness Center only after undergoing a JCC Teen Tune-Up Certification Course. (Note: There is a $30 charge for the Teen Tune-Up Certification Course.) Please contact the Sports & Wellness Desk for more details at 718-475-5210.

  • Where can I get a pool and fitness schedule?

  • Does the Pool & Group Exercise Class schedule change?

Yes - the Group Exercise Schedule changes monthly while the Pool Schedule changes seasonally. Updated schedules are always available by the Reception and Sports & Wellness Desks. 

  • Are there any gender specific times for any areas of the Center?

Yes - in the pool. For the Pool Schedule CLICK HERE. Note all female only swim times are in pink and all male only swim times are in blue.

  • Is there anyone to show me how to use the fitness equipment?

Yes, when you join, you receive 3 complimentary sessions with a Personal Trainer – an Evaluation, Orientation and Nutritional Analysis - to help acquaint you with the facility, the equipment and to help meet your wellness goals. Please see the Sports & Wellness Desk or call 718-475-5210 to make an appointment.

  • What should I wear to the fitness center?

Active wear - sneakers, sweatpants, shorts, t-shirts and sweatshirts. No jeans, slacks, khakis, jean shorts or skirts as well as articles with metal grommets. Sneakers also must be worn, no flip flops, water shoes or open toed shoes. Members must be dressed appropriately to be allowed in the fitness center with no exceptions. 

  • What should I wear to the swimming pool?

Bathing suits and a swimming cap if your hair is shoulder length or longer.  You may also pull your hair up as well. We recommend that you wear flip flops or water shoes.  No street shoes are allowed on the pool deck and you must shower before entering the pool or Jacuzzi.

  • Can I bring my bag into the swimming pool area or fitness center?

We prefer that your personal belongings be locked up in a locker but you may bring them on the pool deck.

  • Do I need a lock?

Yes.  If you are using the Fitness (and Aquatic) facilities you need to place your belongings in a locker and lock it with your own lock. (You can borrow one from the S & W Desk if you forget yours by leaving some form of collateral.) Remember to take your lock off at the end of your visit. If you wish to have your own locker, you can rent the smaller lockers on a monthly basis. See the Sports & Wellness Desk for details.

  • What should I do with my wallet or keys or jewelry etc…?

You must place all of your belongings in a locked locker no matter how little or much you bring with you.

  • Is there anything I need to bring to the Fitness Center?

Yes - you must have your ID/Access Card with you at all times. Also, bring earphones if you would like to plug into our personal viewing TV screens.

  • Is there anything I need to bring to the Pool?

Just your swimsuit, bathing cap and anything else you may need such as ear or nose plugs. We have kickboards, water weights, flotation belts, noodles, etc… for your convenience.

  • What about a towel?

We supply towels – small workout towels and bath size towels. Members are welcome to bring their own towels if preferred. Your Membership ID card is needed in order to receive and return towels. Note: one towel per member is provided during the summer months.

  • Are there any rules for use of the steam room and sauna?

No one under the age of 13 is allowed to use the sauna or steam and specific etiquette rules are posted in each area.
