NEW AMERICAN PROGRAMS

All programs are at the Avis/South Shore JCC unless otherwise indicated. Provided are educational and acculturation activities for seniors from the former Soviet Union. Russian-speaking staff provide support and assistance to help seniors with limited or no English to participate in Senior Adult Department programs. In addition, a number of programs specially designed for this group are available:

• English as a Second Language
• Citizenship
• Russian Club
• Movie Club
• Computer Class
• Literacy Club
• Theatre
• Museums
• Cultural Programs
• Discussion Groups
• Trips to cultural sites
• Chess Club - tied to a tournament connected with Senior Olympics.
• Exercise, art, dance, yoga, choral group, poetry classes and other recreational programs are held at the Avis/South Shore and St. Elizabeth’s Manor.

American born seniors are also invited to participate.
