The Simon Wiesenthal Center invites you to the Dorothy Gardner Adler 2021 State of Anti-Semitism Lecture. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage globally, so does history’s oldest virus, anti-Semitism. In that document, Bahrain became the first Arab State to accept the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism and formally acknowledged that anti-Zionism is anti-Semitic. Register here.

In Memoriam: Dr. Ronald Leventhal
Earlier this week, we lost Dr. Ronald Leventhal, the 22nd President of the JCC. The JCC was special to Ron and his family. It was during Ron’s presidency in 1982 when we opened the South Shore/Avis Building. Ron and his wife Helene always worked together to benefit the JCC, and were among the first recipients of the Allan Weissglass Distinguished Leadership Award.
The JCC remains close to the heart of the Leventhal family, and they have asked that any donations in his memory go to our Families in Need program. If you wish to donate or send a tribute card, click here.

Celebrating Our Values During Hanukkah
As we celebrate Hanukkah, we are reflecting on how our Jewish values bring light to the world, especially during these difficult times. In everything we do at the JCC, we strive to reflect the positive values that unite us all. Tonight, we light the eighth candle on the menorah and celebrate the value of caring for others. At the JCC, we have multiple programs to care for our most vulnerable seniors, including those with memory loss. Our memory loss programs include discussion groups, memory stimulation activities, creative art and music classes, and more. Recognizing the emotional and physical toll that caring for a loved one with memory loss can entail, we are also proud of our Caregiver’s Support Center, which offers respite to caregivers through support groups, self-care, and special family programs. While memory loss can be devastating, our compassionate staff members ensure that our memory loss participants and their caregivers are comfortable and at ease.
