The event will address vaccine distribution and rollout plans in Staten Island, as well as myths and other useful information. There are currently no new first dose appointments due to supply issues. Our staff is compiling an updated list of vaccine distribution sites around the Staten Island community. If you or someone you know is eligible for a vaccine but having trouble finding an appointment, email acohen@sijcc.com to be added to an email list and receive updates about new sites as they pop up. Partial scholarships are open to students entering grades 5-12 who have some prior training on their instrument. Our Harmony Club scholarship program is open to highly motivated students in grades 9-12. “Harmony Club” students will take free private lessons and ensemble classes. Students will also participate in master classes, and solo and group recitals. This program is made possible through a grant from UJA-Federation of New York. We helped more than 200 seniors get vaccinated! We are proud to do our part by helping vulnerable populations get the vaccine! - COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Last week, New York State expanded vaccine eligibility to Group 1b, which includes individuals 65 and older, first responders, teachers, grocery store workers, and others. All of our policies are listed here. - In Memoriam: Dr. Ronald Leventhal Earlier this week, we lost Dr. Ronald Leventhal, the 22nd President of the JCC. The JCC was special to Ron and his family. It was during Ron’s presidency in 1982 when we opened the South Shore/Avis Building. Ron and his wife Helene always worked together to benefit the JCC, and were among the first recipients of the Allan Weissglass Distinguished Leadership Award. The JCC remains close to the heart of the Leventhal family, and they have asked that any donations in his memory go to our Families in Need program.
