After coauthoring an autobiography of her Holocaust-survivor husband, she encouraged her mother to document her own story. Staten Island Witness Theater Witness Theater is seeking student participants for its new program on Staten Island! The program brings together a small group of Holocaust survivors and teens in a unique, supported, story-sharing process, which culminates in a theatrical performance based on the survivors’ stories, tenderly shared with the public by the students and survivors together. After coauthoring an autobiography of her Holocaust-survivor husband, she encouraged her mother to document her own story. Maya subsequently conducted wide-ranging research to fill out her mother’s story. The Nazis Knew My Name is the result.
