IN THE NEWS Supporting Local Families at Thanksgiving Last week, we collaborated with the Central Family Life Center and the JCC Caregiver's Support Center to hand out turkeys to local residents in need from our GO KOSSAH NORC! - Bread of Life Food Drive Check out this great SILive feature on our friends from the Bread of Life Food Drive. The Bread of Life Food Drive supports our Kosher Food Pantry and other local organizations with food donations collected from across the Staten Island community. - Recap: Memories of a Child Holocaust Survivor in Terezin Last week, we hosted Holocaust survivor, Dr. Inge Auerbacher, for a powerful and moving program presented in partnership with the Wagner College Holocaust Center. We had over 100 participants, including many students from a local Hebrew school. Our JCC remains committed to giving survivors a safe place to share their experiences and to preserving their memories for future generations so that we may never forget. Thank you for helping us give summer back to children with cancer and their siblings! - Supporting the JCC Made Easy We are excited to announce that we have partnered with Investors Bank's Care2Share Affinity Program, a free way that you can support the JCC! Through our Connect to Recovery program, the JCC is here to connect you to free emergency services, either through JCC programs or referrals to partner agencies. We offer free, remote help with eviction prevention, Section 8 housing, public housing, SCRIE/DRIE issues, and maintaining safe and habitable living conditions. Opened in 2005, the museum is an essential hub for Holocaust education in the region. Its centerpiece is an abandoned—now restored—synagogue originally built in 1876. Register here. - Music Institute Open for In-Person Lessons The Dorothy Delson Kuhn Music Institute has officially re-opened for individual, in-person instrumental lessons! Partial scholarships are open to students entering grades 5-12 who have some prior training on their instrument. Our Harmony Club scholarship program is open to highly motivated students in grades 9-12. “Harmony Club” students will take free private lessons and ensemble classes. Students will also participate in master classes, and solo and group recitals. This program is made possible through a grant from UJA-Federation of New York.
