IN THE NEWS Celebrating Black History Month February is Black History Month! This month, students in our Learning Bridges and Cornerstone after school programs will honor Black History Month by learning about African American icons and celebrating diversity. We'll be sharing some of the special projects they're working on here. To kick off Black History Month, students in our Todt Hill Cornerstone program created a mural featuring African American icons. They also worked on a collage of handprints to show that everyone is welcome at the JCC! Our JCC is committed to celebrating diversity and fostering inclusivity in all that we do. - Sunrise Day Camp Virtual Comedy Show We had such a great time at our Virtual Comedy Show last week! More than 60 households tuned in to watch the show and share some laughs. Best of all, you helped us exceed our fundraising goal and raise over $7,000 for Sunrise Day Camp-Staten Island! We are grateful to our donors and attendees, as well as our awesome comedians for entertaining us! We have been getting hundreds of requests for help finding vaccine appointments. We will continue to work with our partners in government to help eligible people find appointments. Partial scholarships are open to students entering grades 5-12 who have some prior training on their instrument. Our Harmony Club scholarship program is open to highly motivated students in grades 9-12. “Harmony Club” students will take free private lessons and ensemble classes. Students will also participate in master classes, and solo and group recitals. This program is made possible through a grant from UJA-Federation of New York.
