This year, that number has grown as Staten Islanders experience hardships related to COVID-19. Here’s the story of a family directly affected by the COVID-19 crisis that we were able to help: We were recently able to help a single mom whose son has special needs. When her son's school closed due to the pandemic, she was no longer able to work because she needed to care for her son at home. Without her modest income, she turned an occasional visit to our Food Pantry into a weekly visit. Read more about how the JCC is serving those in need and inspiring others to do the same here. Donate to our Families in Need campaign here to help families like this one.
