JCC Kosher Food Pantry Serves Families in Need Earlier this month, we were fortunate to serve 133 people at a Kosher Food Pantry distribution for our SONYC and Beacon after school program students and their families. Cherine Hanna, the Program Coordinator for our My Place memory center, volunteered her spare time to help distribute food. Our Food Pantry is doing wonderful work, especially during these difficult times, thanks to generous donors who are helping to feed our Staten Island community. If you'd like to help out, donate to our Families in Need campaign here. - he 'Jewish American Princess' in Hollywood Movies—From Stereotype to Role-Model Part Two, August 26, 12:30pm In this 2-part lecture series presented by the Dr. Esther Grushkin Seminars for Adult Jewish Education (SAJE), Dr. Julia Wagner will examine the evolution of the Jewish American Princess (JAP) character-type in Hollywood movies, from its misogynistic origins to unlikely heroines. This year, that number will grow as Staten Islanders experience hardships related to COVID-19. Without the help of the JCC, many people would not have food, legal services, health insurance, mental health services, and other critical services. We want to be able to continue to provide these services to anyone who needs them, but we need your help. Donate to our Families in Need campaign here.
