Policies & Rules

Membership code of conduct
 The JCC of Staten Island is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all members and guests. We are a family and member-friendly organization and uphold the positive J values of being nurturing and genuine to all who enter our doors. Our Members’ Code of Conduct outlines the positive actions that we expect from all of our members and guests:

  • Membership and guest access is a privilege at the JCC.
  • All potential members and guests must present photo identification to gain access.
  • The JCC supports non-violent behavior, and it is expected that every member will adhere and support this principle.
  • Please use appropriate language at all times. Be courteous toward all other members and guests in all parts of the JCC facility. The JCC does not tolerate offensive, impolite, abusive, rude, sexual or vulgar language. Anyone who feels uncomfortable in confronting a person directly should report the behavior immediately to a JCC Staff Member or the Building Supervisor on duty.
  • Suitable attire is expected at all times * Please check with staff if you have any questions or concerns.
  • We recommend that members not bring items of great personal value into the JCC. We want to minimize your risk of loss or theft. Items that are never allowed include weapons or other objects that could be used as a weapon.
  • It is expected when you finish your workout, class or program and leave the building that you refrain from loitering on JCC property. Our JCC properties, inside and outside of our buildings and parking lots, are all tobacco-free to promote a healthy environment for all.
  • All JCC participants must be of good character. The JCC reserves the right to deny access of any person involved in a criminal, civil, unlawful conduct. Membership or guest pass privileges may be suspended or terminated if the Management has determined that a violation of the JCC Members’ Code of Conduct has occurred.
  • JCC staff members are eager to be of assistance. Members and guests should not hesitate to notify a JCC associate if help is needed.
Fitness code of conduct
  • All Participants are subject to the JCC’s Code of Conduct.
  • Please place all personal belongings in the locker room. If necessary, use smaller bags such as drawstring bags or small purses. Backpacks, duffel bags, and large bags must be stored in the locker room — no exceptions.
  • Only authorized JCC Personal Trainers are permitted to provide personal training. Personal training by another member is not allowed, whether for payment or not.
  • Proper exercise/athletic attire is required, i.e., Sneakers, shirts, tank tops, other sports tops, shorts, other pant attire must be worn to work out and may not be removed during exercise, unless due to a medical condition. No sandals, flip flops, open toed shoes, bathing suits are permitted. Additional attire allowed for religious reasons.
  • Members ages 13–16 must complete a Teen Tune-Up orientation before accessing the Fitness Center.
  • Members under 12 years old are NOT permitted in the Fitness Center.
  • Be considerate with your time on the equipment and return and wipe all equipment after use.
  • We strongly encourage members to use headphones for phone calls and music to avoid disturbing others.
  • Be mindful of those around you if filming your workout. You may NOT intentionally film another individual without their permission. Tripods, selfie sticks, or filming equipment are NOT permitted. JCC Fitness Staff reserve the right to ask you to stop filming.
  • Treat staff and fellow members with respect at all times, in alignment with the overall JCC Code of Conduct.
indoor pool rules
  • Always listen to the lifeguard
  • No Running
  • Long hair must be put in a ponytail or swim cap
  • No children under 13 allowed in hot tub
  • All children under 13 must be accompanied by a guardian
  • No food or beverages on the pool deck
  • No jumping
  • No diving
  • No hanging on lane lines
  • No photos or videos
  • No foul language
  • All diapers must be swim diapers
  • Please Circle Swim
  • No strollers are allowed on pool deck\
  • Please share lanes
  • Return all equipment after use
  • No street shoes on deck
  • No playing around or on stairs
  • No fins on deck
  • Proper swim attire must be worn
  • All swim lessons must show receipt before swim lesson
  • All Bathers must shower before entering pool
Outdoor Pool rules
  • No children 13 and under allowed in the pool area without an adult supervising from inside the pool. Any child who is unable to swim, no matter their age must be accompanied by and adult at all times in the pool.
  • No food or glass bottles are permitted on the pool deck. Please eat in the designated picnic area only.
  • No smoking & no alcohol.
  • No diving.
  • Lifeguard must be on duty at pool side.
  • All persons must shower before entering pool.
  • Persons with inflamed eyes, nasal or ear, discharges, boils, or other evident skin or bodily infections shall be excluded from the pool.
  • No persons are allowed in the pool when the lifeguard is not at pool side.
  • No pets allowed in pool, or in pool area.
  • Food, beverages and articles made of glass are not allowed in pool area.
  • Head-first diving int shallow water in not allowed, in water less than 8-feet deep.
  • Pollution of pool is prohibited! Urinating, defecating, expectorating, or bloweing noxe is not allowed.

Outdoor Slide Rules
Warnings
  • Water depth is 3.7 feet deep
  • No head first diving
  • Parental or adult supervision required
Rules
  • Do not use this slide while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Follow the instructions of the flume attendant
  • No running, standing, kneeling, rotating, tumbling, or stopping in the flume
  • Only one person at a time. Forming “chains” is prohibited
  • Keep both hands & feet inside the flume at all times
  • No diving from the flume
  • Exit the flume pool promptly after entering
  • Slide lying on back, feet first only
  • Catching is not permitted at the bottom of the slide
  • No use of flotation devices
  • No goggles
  • All participants must be able to swim without assistance. 
Guest Pass Policy
A daily guest pass is $15/day
This entitles you to full access of our health and wellness indoor facility. Guests that pay the $15 daily rate may have this applied toward their JCC membership if they join within 7 days.
