Jewish Programs
While the JCC is open to people of all faiths, Jewish values inform all of our programs and services. These values may come from Jewish roots, but they are universal; core values include respect, kindness, and helping those in need.
Hillel Of Staten Island
Our Hillel is run through a management agreement between Hillel and the JCC. This unique model allows Hillel to extend its reach beyond the campus, ensuring continued support for students even after graduation. Together, we are building a vibrant, inclusive, and resilient Jewish community on Staten Island.
Our mission is to enrich the lives of Jewish students at the College of Staten Island and Wagner College, as well as other college-aged students and young professionals.
Our programs support the overall growth and well-being of our community, offering wellness events, Jewish learning, Hebrew courses, lunch and learns, sports, lectures, workshops, volunteering opportunities, Shabbat and holiday experiences, and much more!
Jewish Life
We offer many programs that celebrate Jewish culture and heritage, including family celebrations of holidays like Chanukah, Purim, Passover, and Sukkot. For teens, our schlicha, Ester, runs Jewish culture clubs at several high schools throughout the Island.
Rooted in Jewish heritage and open to the broader community, our Jewish cultural programming celebrates creativity while exploring the stories, traditions, and ideas that connect us. Through the arts, we strengthen understanding, build bridges across communities, and create opportunities for meaningful dialogue.
We remain committed to fostering a deeper connection to Jewish life, culture, and identity while creating welcoming experiences for all who seek inspiration, learning, and community.
Stand with Israel
We are proud to stand with the people of Israel. We have a special partnership with our friends in Binyamina G'vat-Ada, and we collaborate on various programs. We look forward to another year of programming that fosters connections and friendship in Jewish communities around the world.
Israel Programs
The Staten Island JCC remains committed to creating meaningful opportunities for our community to engage with Israel, its people, and its culture.
Through educational programs, cultural events, guest speakers, performances, and community conversations, we explore the many dimensions of Israeli life while fostering a deeper understanding of Jewish identity, history, and contemporary issues. These experiences create space for learning, reflection, celebration, and connection—while helping strengthen the bonds that unite our community.
We are fortunate to have several shlichim, Israeli cultural ambassadors, join our staff! Our dedicated shlichim enrich many of our programs by sharing their culture with our preschool students, campers, high school Jewish Culture Clubs, Hillel of Staten Island, and seniors.
We are proud to partner with our sister JCC in Binyamina G'vat-Ada on various programs. Check out this video of a visit to our JCC from some of their teens in 2024!
"Whether you are Jewish, want to be Jewish, or are learning about Judaism, you can show up and will be welcomed into the community.”
