Camps

Some of childhood’s most meaningful memories begin at camp.

JCC camp programs provide children with opportunities to explore, play, learn, and grow in safe, supportive environments filled with friendship, adventure, and discovery. Campers build confidence, develop independence, try new activities, and create memories that last long after summer ends.

From first-time campers to returning families, camp is where lifelong friendships are formed, new experiences begin, and children discover what they’re capable of achieving.

Lucille & Jay Chazanoff Sunrise Day Camp

Sunrise Day Camp is the world’s first full-summer day camp for children with cancer and their siblings, provided completely free of charge. The Lucille & Jay Chazanoff Sunrise Day Camp-Staten Island is the only day camp of its kind in New York City. The camp serves children from Staten Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and nearby New Jersey.

The camp, which is located on the grounds of Staten Island Academy, serves over 200 children every year. Activities include sports, music, arts & crafts, swimming, and other games.

Recognizing the extraordinary financial demands that a child’s chronic illness can have on a family, Sunrise Day Camps and its year-round and in-hospital programs are offered completely free of charge to all children being treated for cancer and their siblings, on a non-sectarian basis. Sunrise Day Camp-Staten Island is a proud member of the Sunrise Association.
