The story of Chanukah—the Jewish Festival of Lights—is one of a community standing together to dispel darkness. In the face of the ongoing crisis in Israel, the Joan & Alan Bernikow JCC of Staten Island is committed to bringing the community together to celebrate the holiday.
The JCC’s Chanukah events are listed below. Unless otherwise noted, events will take place at the Bernikow JCC, located at 1466 Manor Road.

- Chanukah Food Pantry Distribution: Beginning December 1
- Toy Drive Collection: Now through December 20
- Winter Clothing Drive at Avis/South Shore JCC (1297 Arthur Kill Rd): Now through December 22
- Hillel of Staten Island Chanukah Party at Hot Shotz: December 7, 8pm
- iTeens Sufganiyot Eating Contest: December 9, 7pm
- Spin Like a Dreidel: December 10, 9am
- Chanukah Family Party: December 10, 10am-12pm
- Chanukah Family Fitness: December 10, 12pm-1pm
- Community Menorah Lighting at the Staten Island Mall, presented in partnership with COJO and Chabad: December 10, 4pm
- Heroines and Heroes of the Light, hear from Israelis who survived the October 7th attacks: December 11, 1pm
