Caring for our Seniors in Need is a key component of the work we do at the JCC. We know that they require special care, especially under the current circumstances. Watch the video below to see how our grab-and-go food distribution has impacted the lives of seniors across Staten Island:
Some of the work we have done for seniors since the pandemic began includes:
- Distributing over 20,000 Kosher meals to isolated and frail seniors, including Holocaust survivors
- Daily outreach to isolated seniors and Holocaust survivors, providing remote counseling services
- Forming support groups for those who have lost loved ones or are coping with stress
- Assisting people exposed to COVID-19 with accessing necessary services while quarantining
- Producing programs and classes that broaden seniors' world while keeping their minds and spirits strong
- Creating virtual opportunities for seniors to connect with each other, which is vital in these trying times
We want to continue these programs, but we need your help!
Unfortunately, we had to pause the program due to lack of funding. Our goal is to continue to provide 500 meals a week to seniors in our contactless, grab-and-go format throughout the winter.
With your support, we can continue providing safe, healthy meals to our seniors.
For just $25, you can provide 3 healthy pre-packaged meals for Seniors in Need.
We are grateful for whatever you can give to this important cause. With your help, we can continue this critical work to improve the lives of seniors on Staten Island. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
