On Monday, October 19th, we held our 40th Annual Golf & Tennis Classic. Over 120 people joined us for a day of golf, tennis, and socially distant fun! Check out some photos from the day below! Best of all, we raised over $125,000 for JCC Kids in Need programs! Without your support, this wouldn’t have been possible.

Making our voices heard with our votes is not only our right, but also a responsibility that connects past, present, and future generations of Americans. It is our duty to be informed voters. While the presidency and Congress are certainly important, we also need to be engaged in state and local elections that have significant impacts on our day-to-day lives. Sample ballot tools, like this one from Ballotpedia, are a great way to stay informed on all the elections you can expect to see on your ballot. In an unpredictable year like this one, it is just as important how you plan to cast your vote as it is who you choose to vote for. I encourage you all to make a voting plan, as you may be submitting your ballot in a different way this year.

The event, which was pushed back from its original July date, will take place at the Richmond County Country Club and adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols. Funds raised at this event allow the JCC to award scholarships to children who are desperately in need. Some of these scholarships go to children with special needs, offering them a joyous and safe summer led by highly experienced staff at no cost to their families. Scholarship recipients are the children of working mothers and fathers, including single parents, who cannot afford to send their children to camp and other JCC programs due to financial issues. “With everything changing around us, one theme has stayed consistent—the JCC remains committed to helping children in our community,” said Orit Lender, JCC CEO. “Your support will directly impact Staten Island families who need our help the most. We hope you will join us for a fun day out on the course and courts!” Golf and tennis players will receive a continental breakfast and lunch, along with the chance to win contests and prizes. Tennis players will have access to a clinic, hosted by a tennis pro. Following the event, the winner of a $10,000 raffle will be drawn virtually. To learn more or register, click here! |
