A Virtual Tour of the Northern Transylvania Holocaust Memorial Museum Tuesday, December 15, 7pm Join us for a virtual tour of the Northern Transylvania Holocaust Memorial Museum. Opened in 2005, the museum is an essential hub for Holocaust education in the region. Its centerpiece is an abandoned—now restored—synagogue originally built in 1876. The tour is sponsored by the Staten Island Holocaust Center in partnership with Congregation B'Nai Jeshurun. The event is free, but we welcome any donations. WELLNESS Virtual Yoga Class Sundays, 11am-12:15pm Join us for a new virtual yoga class, open to all JCC and CLLD members! Partial scholarships are open to students entering grades 5-12 who have some prior training on their instrument. Our Harmony Club scholarship program is open to highly motivated students in grades 9-12. “Harmony Club” students will take free private lessons and ensemble classes. Students will also participate in master classes, and solo and group recitals. This program is made possible through a grant from UJA-Federation of New York. International Holocaust Survivors Night Sunday, December 13, 9:30am The Claims Conference invites you to the annual International Holocaust Survivors Night. For the first time ever, Holocaust survivors from around the world – from Jerusalem, New York, Berlin, Moscow, Montreal and dozens of other cities – will join together in a digital, global gathering. Please join us for a truly international program to honor those who survived the atrocities of the Holocaust and emerged from the darkness into the light. Survivors and dignitaries from around the world will offer Chanukah greetings, there’ll be festive entertainment and the highlight will be a livestream of the official menorah lighting ceremony at the Western Wall (Kotel) in Israel. Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Rabbi of the Western Wall and the Holy Sites, will recite the Chanukah prayers and light the candles. Watch the webcast here. Lea Zeltserman Sunday, December 20, 5pm Darra will share her journey 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle to the Kola Peninsula to explore the true complexities of Russian cuisine during the country’s harsh winters.
