IN THE NEWS JCC to Partner with Per Scholas to Offer Technical Training We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Per Scholas to help connect Staten Islanders with jobs in the growing tech industry. Per Scholas, a professional training organization, already has a presence in the other boroughs, but will begin free offering courses on Staten Island for the first time at our JCC this fall. JCC CEO Orit Lender said, "The JCC has always been there for the community, providing services to meet any needs that arise. One of our goals as we come out of the pandemic is to get Staten Islanders back to work. To that end, we could not be prouder to be the Community-Based Organization chosen to work on this project." We are grateful to our partners—Per Scholas, the Office of the Borough President, the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, the Staten Island Foundation, and local businesses—for making this possible. TODAY: noon - 8pm Walk-Up COVID-19 Vaccines Available for New Yorkers 16+ Walk-up COVID-19 vaccinations for New Yorkers ages 16 years & older are now available at City-run vaccine sites. Please see below details provided by the NYC Vaccine Command Center. New Yorkers 16+ will be able walk into any of these designated sites without an appointment. Recap: An Exciting Week for Sunrise Last week, our SunriseWALKS co-chairs and several of our teams held fundraisers for Sunrise! On Wednesday night, Team Sunshine and Smiles hosted a basket night at Joyce's Tavern, where they raffled off amazing prizes! On Thursday, Team AlliSun coordinated a 'Dine Out' fundraiser at local Applebees locations. Applebees donated 20% of participating diners' bills to our camp! Our SunriseWALKS co-chairs Annette and Gary Angiuli also hosted a beautiful 'Sunrise at Sunset' benefit on Thursday evening. You can check out photos from the event here.
